OBJECTIVE

The main objective of the Software Awareness Program – Mechanical Engineering was to introduce students to the mechanical design industry and teach the importance of 2D and 3D software tools like AutoCAD and SolidWorks. The workshop aimed to give students practical exposure, enhance their technical skills, and guide them toward better career opportunities in the mechanical field.

REPORT IN BRIEF

The Software Awareness Program – Mechanical Engineering was conducted at Skill Book Skill Development Centre on 18 November 2025, with 12 Draughtsman Mechanical students from ITI Narela participating.

The workshop began with an introduction to the mechanical design industry, its demand, and commonly used design tools. Students learned to create simple 2D assemblies in AutoCAD and 3D drawings in SolidWorks, understanding the importance of both software in mechanical design. The session was interactive, with students asking questions and receiving guidance from the trainer.

The workshop provided hands-on learning, practical exposure, and industry insights, leaving students motivated, confident, and excited to develop their skills further.

IMPACT & FEEDBACK

Students shared very positive feedback about the Skill Book workshop. They found the session informative, practical, and easy to understand. Many students enjoyed learning how to create 2D assemblies in AutoCAD and 3D drawings in SolidWorks, and they appreciated understanding why both software are important in the mechanical field.

CONCLUSION

The Software Awareness Program – Mechanical Engineering conducted by Skill Book was a successful and impactful workshop. Students gained valuable knowledge about the mechanical design industry and practical experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

Students also expressed interest in learning about advanced features in AutoCAD and SolidWorks and applying these skills to real-world mechanical projects. Overall, students recommended continuing and expanding such workshops to help them build stronger technical skills, gain confidence, and improve career opportunities in the mechanical engineering field.
