The objective of the Software Awareness Program – Civil/Mechanical Engineering was to introduce students to the design industry, its current demand, and the importance of 2D and 3D design software. The workshop aimed to provide practical exposure to tools like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and SketchUp, helping students understand how these skills can improve job opportunities in civil and mechanical fields.
The Software Awareness Program – Civil/Mechanical Engineering was conducted at the Skill Book Skill Development Centre on 18 November 2025, starting at 12:30 PM, with 37 students from ITI Shahdara participating.
The session began with an introduction to the design industry and commonly used software tools. Mechanical students created 2D assemblies using AutoCAD and 3D models in SolidWorks, while civil students prepared building plans in AutoCAD and designed a 3D TV panel in SketchUp.
The workshop focused on explaining why 2D and 3D software skills are essential in both civil and mechanical careers. Students actively participated, asked questions, and received clear guidance from the trainer. The overall environment was interactive, positive, and motivating.
