The objective of the CAD Essentials – Mechanical Engineering Workshop was to provide DMM (Draughtsman Mechanical) students with practical knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD tools used in the mechanical industry, helping them understand technical drawings, modeling, and assemblies for improved job opportunities.
The CAD Essentials – Mechanical Engineering Workshop was conducted at the Skill Book Skill Development Centre over three days, with 21 students from ITI Dheerpur (DMM trade) participating. The workshop focused on hands-on training in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
On Day 1, students worked on AutoCAD to create 2D mechanical drawings, learned basic commands, and improved drawing reading skills.
On Day 2, students learned 3D modeling using SolidWorks and practiced AutoCAD isometric view projection to convert 2D drawings into advanced representations.
On Day 3, students used AutoCAD and SolidWorks together to create mechanical assemblies, helping them understand real-world mechanical design workflows.
Certificate
Students appreciated the practical training and found the software sessions easy to understand and useful for mechanical drafting. They shared that the workshop improved their confidence in 2D drafting, 3D modeling, and assembly creation.
College representatives appreciated Skill Book’s effort in providing quality, industry-relevant training and expressed interest in organizing more such skill-based workshops in the future.

The CAD Essentials – Mechanical Engineering Workshop successfully enhanced the technical skills of DMM students through hands-on training in AutoCAD and SolidWorks. The workshop helped students develop a strong understanding of mechanical drawings, 3D modeling, and assemblies, preparing them for industry requirements. Overall, the program supported skill-based learning and reinforced the vision of Skill Book – “Skill Hi Shiksha.”
Organize advanced-level CAD workshops focusing on detailed mechanical drawings, GD&T, and complex assemblies.
Include real industry-based projects to help students understand practical mechanical design requirements.
Provide more hands-on practice time on SolidWorks for part modeling and assembly simulation.
Conduct regular Skill Book training programs to continuously improve technical and employability skills.
Extend similar workshops to other ITIs and mechanical trades, promoting skill-based education in line with “Skill Hi Shiksha.”
