Mr. Dilshad is an experienced Civil Designer working in the industry, with strong practical exposure to real-world projects. His hands-on involvement at both site and office levels has given him a solid understanding of civil design practices and project execution.
He is known for explaining concepts in a clear and simple manner, creating a comfortable learning environment where students feel confident to ask questions. Mr. Dilshad is dedicated to mentoring learners, sharing his industry experience, and helping them develop the essential skills required for a successful career in civil design.
The CAD Essentials – Civil Designing Workshop was organized to provide students with practical exposure to CAD tools used in civil engineering. The workshop emphasized developing a clear understanding of 2D and 3D design concepts, improving the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, and strengthening overall technical skills to enhance career opportunities in the civil design field.
The CAD Essentials – Civil Designing Workshop was conducted at the Skill Book Skill Development Centre on 10 April 2026, with active participation from 21 students of ITI Dheerpur (Civil Trade, 1st Year) along with their teachers. The workshop was designed to provide hands-on practical training, enabling students to gain exposure to industry-relevant civil design tools and workflows.
During the one-day workshop, students were introduced to AutoCAD software and its applications in civil engineering. They learned how to set up drawings, use essential commands such as line, offset, trim, and dimension, and understand proper drawing scales. Students worked on creating 2D building plans, including basic layouts and structural elements. Special emphasis was placed on reading and interpreting technical drawings, which is a fundamental skill in civil design.
Students were also given an overview of 3D design concepts to help them understand the transition from 2D plans to visual representations. They explored basic modeling concepts and learned how civil drawings can be visualized for better project understanding and presentation.
The workshop was conducted under the guidance of Mr. Dilshad (Civil Designer), who provided step-by-step instruction, addressed student queries, and shared practical insights from industry experience. Throughout the session, students and teachers actively participated, showing keen interest and engagement. The hands-on approach helped enhance their technical skills, confidence, and understanding of real-world civil design practices.

Whether the speakers are good enough to explain
The CAD Essentials – Civil Designing Workshop proved to be highly effective in achieving its objective of providing practical knowledge and industry-relevant skills to students. The active participation of ITI Dheerpur Civil Trade students, along with the positive feedback received, reflects the success of the program.
Students were able to develop a clear understanding of CAD tools, improve their technical drawing skills, and gain confidence in applying these concepts in real-world scenarios. The hands-on training approach and effective guidance ensured better learning outcomes.
Overall, the workshop was a valuable learning experience that contributed to enhancing students’ technical capabilities and prepared them for future opportunities in the field of civil design.
Based on the successful outcome of the workshop and positive student feedback, it is recommended that similar CAD-based training programs be conducted regularly to further strengthen students’ technical skills. Extending the duration of the workshop to multiple days would allow for deeper learning, especially in advanced 3D modeling and real-world project work.
It is also suggested to include more practical assignments and live project-based tasks to enhance hands-on experience. Providing access to practice materials and software after the workshop can help students continue learning independently.
Additionally, organizing follow-up sessions or advanced-level workshops would benefit students who wish to build higher-level expertise in civil designing. Collaboration with industry professionals and inclusion of real case studies can further improve the quality and relevance of such training programs.
Overall, continuous skill development initiatives like this workshop should be encouraged to better prepare students for employment opportunities in the civil engineering and design sector.
